Lovely evening with English Major
I met English Major about a month ago on an app called Skout (despite my friends hounding me to uninstall it because of my addiction). We started talking when he was on a trip in Singapore with his friends. We didn’t meet until two weeks ago. Our first meeting started off badly as he was an hour late so our movie date was shortened to a coffee date. Tonight we met in 신촌 to eat dinner. He...

My fitness plan starts today........
using the same blog that i did back in university (here) to keep track of my progress.. obviously i won’t be as extreme and starve myself like i did before… but i think it’s good to look back on my old self-destructive habits of dieting and make smarter choices this time.

헐....
My friend sent me this blog about a foreign girl dating in Korea.. I’ve been up reading it although I should be getting sleep so I can be fully functional at work tomorrow for open class. Can’t stop thinking how similar I am to this girl and it’s kind of scary. We both fall for guys easily and as my friends describe me all the time, very fickle. She’s dated many Korean guys...

My dating spree
Not quite sure what came over me last week but I did something I had never done before.. I went on a dating spree. Four dates, four different guys, all within 7 days. It was quite an experience. All four guys were very much different from one another.
The first guy barely spoke English. Despite the language barriers, it was fun but I think the both of us would agree that actually dating would be...

10 months in Seoul now.
A few days ago, I passed my 10 month mark in Korea. Man, how time flies! This time last year, my friend Jen and I were back home sitting in a coffee shop freaking out about what we should pack and the things we should do/eat before moving. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Can’t believe it’s nearly June!
Mom’s visit was already three weeks ago! She came and left so...

Mom arrives in Korea one week from today...
Pressure’s on for me to decide whether I’m going to stay in Korea for one more year or not…..„

Starting to accept the fact that cute boys who can’t speak English are only good for one thing and one thing only. Not gonna try and push for anything more than that anymore. It’s not like it’s a bad thing anyways.

Frustrations of Dating in Korea, pt.2
(Part 1 is here)
So I met this guy about 7 weeks ago and we have been casually seeing each other since then. We went on several “date-like” outings, which often involved dinner and coffee which he always paid for, short road trips outside of Seoul, and even a meeting on White Day. After each outing however, I would a receive a text message saying, “I’m so glad we are good...

Reunited with my bestie!
My best friend of 11 years recently came to visit me in Korea. Even back home, we never got to see each other often because he lives in Toronto and I lived in Vancouver. Having met in seventh grade and maintaining our friendship through all this time and many life changes, it was nice to celebrate our decade of friendship together in a new country.
Who says you need to be a couple to have...

Infinite Second Invasion Concert: Seoul, Korea
mydubu:
Went to the Infinite 2nd Invasion Concert this past Sunday, April 1st. Despite having pretty terrible seats, it was a blast. My best friend and I sat beside my friend’s middle school students which was good and bad. I had cute fan girls to spaz with, but it was definitely awkward during the overly-sexual performances like when Hoya shredded his shirt to pieces.
Anyways, here are some...

I'm going to the Infinite Second Invasion concert.
Rejected standing tickets for Infinite for the 2nd floor, nose bleed section. This is going to come back and haunt me I know it.. Probably will throw myself off the 2nd floor balcony when I see my friends down there on the floor…. but I’m going nonetheless. :)

Korean Designer Outlet Shopping
I seriously gotta rave about outlet shopping in Korea. It is simply RETAIL HEAVEN for shopaholics like me. Everyone who knows me knows I have a shopping problem. It probably doesn’t help that I have a young coteacher who’s just as bad as me. We seriously sit at our desks and shop online during our free blocks. Online shopping does get boring after a while.. so today we decided to sneak...

Steps for Attending Music Shows (Inkigayo, Music...
I usually answer messages privately but I’ve been getting a lot of the same messages about attending music shows in Korea. I’ve decided to create a post. Each music show will vary in terms of their requirements for attendance… but I’ve been to both Inkigayo and Music Core, and they are pretty much the same.
1. Register for the fan club (fan cafe) on Daum. You’ll...

The frustrations of dating in Korea...
Dating is often a topic of conversation among my girlfriends and I every time we’re together. Perhaps it is being away from home that makes the loneliness worse at times. After being here for almost 6 months, I have formed some theories about what dating is like in Korea.
Keep in mind that my thoughts on dating are based on my own (limited) experience, as well as what I’ve gathered...

I’ll try to update more often although life has been kinda boring and routine lately..

Teaching moments of the day
Moment #1
While standing in the lunch line with my sixth grade girls, this second grade boy who I don’t teach noticed that I was speaking English so he screamed out, “NOONA! WHAT’S YOUR NAME?” Oh the embarrassment on his face when his friends told him I’m a teacher. He couldn’t look at me. LOL. So cute! And then my girls tried calling me “unnie...

A year older.......
Korean age, that is! Everyone turns another year older during lunar new year. Meaning now I’m 25 korean age. MID-20’s!!!
Anyways, lunar new year was uneventful for me. I had a high fever so instead of celebrating with my friends, I was stuck in bed with no human contact until my friend Illy delivered me food. <3

TOKYO, JAPAN: TASTEBUD HEAVEN
Aside from all the yaoi comic book stores, cute anime things everywhere.. I’d say the best thing about Japan was the FOOD, which was really to die for.
In fact, it requires an entire post of it’s own.
My stomach is crying from looking at all of these photos ;_;

Ringing in the New Year in Tokyo
Spent the new year in Tokyo, Japan with a few good friends. It was pretty awesome. :) Here are some photos:
Awesome machines they have at every restaurant where you just put in money and select what you want to eat. No waiters to take your order.
For our first night out, we went to the lovely Park Hyatt to enjoy the night skyline of Tokyo from the 52nd floor.
Josh and me~ It was nice to...

Christmas in Seoul
Finally going to write about my first Christmas in Seoul. Yes, I know it’s almost February. Better late than never.
Christmas was spent in the company of good friends.. although I was put in charge of finding us turkey dinner.. Thanks friends.. >_>
Anyways, after some online research and calling around, I managed to find us a turkey buffet at Big Rock in Gangnam. For 30,000 won, we...

Back to work.. (for another 2 weeks)
My short 2-week holiday after winter camp has finally come to an end! It’s 9 AM and I’m back in this freezing desk… Turns out I’ll be desk warming all day at least. Maybe I’ll finally update this blog properly. I haven’t really done so since December. Anyways.. expect more posts later today! :)

Why they chose me to interview potential Korean elementary English teachers I do not know…
But at least I was able to sleep in a bit this morning and get an 100,000 won. :)
My first date in Korea..
Ended with an “I love you”..
Omg. Never again.

Yeah... no one really cares about Kim Jong Il's...
In the past hour, I’ve received 10+ emails/messages from family and friends back home asking what’s happening in Korea right now and if I’m safe..
Honestly, no one really cares here.
The topic was briefly brought up at the teachers’ cafeteria table for a few minutes.. until they all resumed the earlier topic of conversation — the poorly behaved sixth graders.
So...

The "Great Leader" is dead?
After we had dismissed our sixth grade class for lunch today, a group of them ran back into the classroom chanting, “Kim Jong Il dead!” Even before the news was posted on CNN, my 12-year olds were celebrating in the hallways.
The teachers seem kind of indifferent to the news though. As some of them passed each other in the hall they’d say, “Did you hear? Kim Jong Il is...

Dieting/Exercise: Unrealistic Expectations
Last year, I went on a diet and exercise craze where I attempted to lose 15 lbs in 30 days… Did it happen? Yes, it did. I dropped from 120 lbs to 105 lbs in a matter of weeks.
However, reading my old blog where I documented the entire “30 day challenge”… I felt like it was the most stupid thing I’ve ever done.
This is basically what a typical day looked like for...

Your questions, my answers!
Dear followers,
My apologies… I have been terrible at responding to questions over the past several months. I will try to respond to as many as I can now privately.. It seems like I’ve been getting the same questions over and over (especially about teaching in Korea) so I am considering making an FAQ which will take some time so please be patient.
Thank you for continuing to follow...

fangirl troubles
so… onew’s birthday is approaching.. it’s on the 14th of this month. living in korea now, i finally have the opportunity to give him an actual gift on this special day. i have given fan gifts to other kpop idols in the past, but this time i’m stumped on what to get onew since he is my ULTIMATE bias (if you don’t know what this is, then forget about it. i’m too...
