Originally from Canada, I moved to Seoul, Korea in the summer of 2011 to teach English as a foreign language. Work hard, play hard. Mondays through Fridays, I teach at a public elementary school. On weekends, I'm a night-life junkie and kpop fan girl.

From Seoul~
Went to the Infinite 2nd Invasion Concert this past Sunday, April 1st. Despite having pretty terrible seats, it was a blast. My best friend and I sat beside my friend’s middle school students which was good and bad. I had cute fan girls to spaz with, but it was definitely awkward during the overly-sexual performances like when Hoya shredded his shirt to pieces.
Anyways, here are some photos. :)

Rejected standing tickets for Infinite for the 2nd floor, nose bleed section. This is going to come back and haunt me I know it.. Probably will throw myself off the 2nd floor balcony when I see my friends down there on the floor…. but I’m going nonetheless. :)

I usually answer messages privately but I’ve been getting a lot of the same messages about attending music shows in Korea. I’ve decided to create a post. Each music show will vary in terms of their requirements for attendance… but I’ve been to both Inkigayo and Music Core, and they are pretty much the same.
1. Register for the fan club (fan cafe) on Daum. You’ll need to make an account on Daum and then sign up for their fan club. Make sure it’s the official fan club.
2. Once you join, you must upgrade in the fan club (this will allow you to RSVP to the music show). Each fan club will have their own requirements. Sometimes you have to complete little quizzes in order to upgrade, or post a photo of yourself with the album. They’ll have the rules posted on the site.
2. Once you have joined and upgraded, you can post your RSVP to the event.
3. On the day of the music show, show up early. Depending on how popular the band/singer is, you might want to get there really early. For B1A4, I’ve arrived at 6:30 AM.. For a band who’s recently debuted like AA, I showed up at 9 AM and it was still okay.
4. Once you arrive, find the fanclub. There will be a meeting spot somewhere around the building. Put your name down on the list to claim your spot in the line.
5. You’ll be told to come back at a later time for roll call. This is typically a few hours later.
6. Most fanclubs (especially larger ones) have different “grades”. You will be placed in a grade based on how well you’ve prepared (bought AND brought the CD, downloaded the mp3 off Melon.com, showed up early, whether or not you’ve RSVPed, etc.) This will determine your position in the line. Even if you show up early and you didn’t prepare, you may not get a chance to go to the recording or live show, depending on how big the fanclub is.
7. Recording and live shows are separate events. Most people will be able to get into the recording, which is when you see the band/artist record the song several times. The live show is where you’ll see all the artists that week. Not everyone is guaranteed a place in the live show (especially if the recording studio is smaller), this is why it’s important to prepare and go early. Recording will happen first, then live show.
Attending music shows is a whole day ordeal. You can expect to be there from the early morning till around 5-6 pm at night. They are also COMPLETELY FREE. The only thing you’ll need to pay for is the album and perhaps the Melon download. It also helps if you know some Korean or go with someone who does. This will help with the registration/upgrade process for the Daum fan cafe.
Hope this helps for anyone interested in attending music shows! Let me know if there are any other questions.
so… onew’s birthday is approaching.. it’s on the 14th of this month. living in korea now, i finally have the opportunity to give him an actual gift on this special day. i have given fan gifts to other kpop idols in the past, but this time i’m stumped on what to get onew since he is my ULTIMATE bias (if you don’t know what this is, then forget about it. i’m too embarrassed to explain this to non-kpop followers). i really want to spoil him and give him something that is memorable, but i really don’t know what to get him. i have not a SINGLE idea whatsoever.
everything about the night was a m a z i n g.
rekindled my love for se7en. i almost cried when he came on stage… especially when he sang his old songs and rollerbladed across the stage. i couldn’t believe i’d been listening to him for almost a decade. it was overwhelming to finally see him in person.
big bang and 2ne1 rocked the stage. they did covers of each other’s songs.. big bang’s rendition of “I Am the Best” was priceless.
PSY’s performances basically tore apart the stadium. everyone went crazy
jinusean reminded me of when i first listened to YG family back in the day of 1tym.. it’s been so long.. i’m a fan girl of the old school YG so I was basically dying when Jinusean, Se7en and Gdragon covered their song.
tablo and gummy were amazing… let me just say that the entire YG family is flawless.

20111119 Double A Mini-fan meeting after Music Core
This is a video of me meeting Double A (AA) for the first time..
I’m in the black with the huge red back pack.. I’m so awkward, ide……..
;~; especially when meeting my bias Kimchi xD *repeatedly bowing awkwardly*

I’ve been living in Korea for barely 4 months but have visited Lotte World 4 times now.. We went there again last Saturday to see B1A4 perform. C-Real and LED Apple opened for them, as well as two other bands who are about to debut under T.O.P. Media. While waiting for the show to start, they were showcasing auditions too.
We went there at around 4 pm (show starts at 8pm), but many of the seats were occupied by family/children as there was a Christmas show happening. Once it was over, I rushed in to claim us an entire bench as my friends went on the rides. Successfully got a row for us right near the front/center of the stage.
It was a long wait until B1A4 (the main act) performed.. T_T Finally when they performed, they sang only two songs (Beautiful Target and My Love). It was still worth it though!! They were amazing!!~
Here are some photos from the night:
LED APPLE

C-REAL

New boyband trio who are about to debut.. I think their name is B-boys or something like that. They were really precious, all so handsome and sang well. They look really promising!

and finallyyyyyyyyyy.. B1A4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m going to try to make this short and quick this time!
We went to Inkigayo last weekend to see Double A again, and they held another fan signing after the show. We walked with the fan club all the way to a park which was about a 10 min. walk from the studio.

(We got AA fan event cards this time! YAY! You get a signature everytime you attend an event.)
Their van actually beat us to the park.. It was so funny to see all the fan girls scream when they sped by us. LOL.
My photos are so crappy this time.. I wasn’t expecting another fan meeting so I didn’t bring my digital camera.. These were all taken on my phone. >_<
At the meeting, Woosang talked about the time that he worked as a back-up dancer and choreographer for SUJU. Although my Korean sucks and I barely understood any of it… I felt it was very touching. T_T They went through a lot of hardships and stress.. especially Kimchi. Woosang said Kimchi had a lot of stress prior to their debut.. and all the fans looked very sad for him. Aoora petted his head and gave him a really close hug that lasted for a few minutes.
Afterwards, we played a GROUP kai-bai-bo with over 40+ people to see who could take individual selcas with the members. Of course, I lost again.
We got a chance, however, to meet the boys one-on-one again. Since there was a lot more people this time, we were asked to make our meetings very brief.
Once again, the members all spoke Korean to me until I told them from Canada. I think Aoora, Juwon and Woosang remembered me from last time once I told them I was the Canadian.

I prepared a gift for Kimchi again.. My bias is spoiled. ㅋㅋ This week, I got Kimchi a Paul Frank arm pillow. My friend Josh who was ahead of me in line tried to tell Kimchi that it was my birthday and that he should wish me happy birthday..
When I got to Kimchi, he spoke to me in really fast Korean.. he MAY have even wished me HBD, I don’t even know honestly. He talked a lot and spoke REALLY fast.. I didn’t even get a chance to tell him right away that I don’t understand Korean. When I finally did tell him, he STILL spoke to me in Korean. sob. ㅠㅠ
I gave him the gift and he seemed very appreciative. He held both of my hands and kept saying “Thank you” over and over in Korean. I “talked” to him much longer this time than last time (though our “talking” was more him speaking really fast korean and me standing there looking like a fool).

After meeting them one-on-one, we were told to line up behind a member according to our check-in numbers. Josh and I lined up behind Aoora, and my friends Kris and Joachim got to line up behind Kimchi. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
We got cards with the members’ autographs on them~ The members had already signed them all in advance.. but the member who we lined up for got to write us a special message. Aoora wrote on mine.. xD I think I was shaking when he used my back to write. He wrote the scribbly Korean that I can’t make out.. and “i Love U” with the hearts.

I wish Kimchi would write a message on mine ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ After the autograph signing, we took a group photo with the members and fan club. ^^
Anyways, I really tried to make this short.. but it ended up being long. Oops!
Hope you guys enjoyed this fan account. I hope AA can gain more international fans so I’ll try to do more of these in the future!!

Now if my bias would reply to meeeee ;~; 김치야!!!!! y u no reply to your 캐나다 누나!?!
Yes, I’m a creep.
Where do I even begin to describe what happened this weekend when we went to see AA (Double A) at Music Core.
I think I’m still in shock to be honest…
I’ve been to a lot of music shows since being here in Korea.. but yesterday was the first time meeting and talking one-on-one with an idol. AA held a mini fan meeting after the show. Although we had already sort of met them at last week’s fan meeting, we didn’t get to talk to them one-on-one.
So anyways………… here is I guess what you can call my fan account.
It became suddenly very cold after Music Core ended and we were freezing as we waited outside of the MBC building. The fan club lined us up according to our check-in numbers on the list (I was #17).
After what seemed like an eternity in the cold, AA finally came out and greeted the crowd. Despite the fact that it was nearly below zero, the boys were very cheery!
We were told by the fan club leaders that we would be playing kai-bai-bo (a Korean variation of rock-paper-sissors) in small groups to determine who could go take selcas with the members. Obviously having never played kai-bai-bo ever in my life, all of my friends and I lost. We were disappointed for a while, but then became relieved when we heard that everyone would get a chance to meet the members.
As I waited in line to see them, I was extremely nervous. Let me just start by saying that my Korean is basically non-existent.. and the few words I could muster up to speak to these five gorgeous boys were “캐나다사람입니다” (I’m Canadian).. They were all super nice though and extremely down to earth!!! My friends were ahead of me in line so I watched them talk to the band as I waited in line. Hoik put on the wolf hat my friend Josh had bought for him!!! ^_^ I saw them speaking English to Juwon.
The next thing I knew, I was standing face to face to tall, handsome Hoik. Seeing Hoik the previous week, I knew he was super awkward and shy.. just as I am!!! So we quickly exchanged “안녕하세요”s (Hello) and a handshake. When I told him I am Canadian, he pointed to Juwon and said that Juwon was a student in Canada (which he said to me in Korean). I was quite stunned once I stood in front of Juwon.. No wonder he was a model, I really felt Juwon was too beautiful to be human. We said hello and shook hands.. and he started to say something in Korean, which I did not understand. I quickly told him I’m from Canada, and he told me that he had studied there for two years. He told me that he lived in Hamilton (which is a suburb outside of Toronto — I have family there ^^).. he said he missed Canada a lot!
Apparently I made the line stall when I was talking to Juwon, so one of the fan club leader unnies had to push me along… and next up was Kimchi, my bias!!!! I was in complete shock as I stood face to face with him. His personality is so childish and adorable. I felt instantly attracted to his crooked smile. ;~; For the next few minutes, I don’t even know what he said, nor what I was doing. It went by so fast that I can only vaguely recall what happened!!!! I think he spoke to me in Korean the entire time… All I remember is shaking his hand and saying hello.. and then quickly giving him the gift I had prepared for him. It was such a dorky gift.. I got him a wand with a tag that said, “Kimchi iz wizard”.. after seeing him tweet that a few days ago. He must think I’m so weird!!!!!!! ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

After giving him the wand, he looked at it and read the tag aloud. I think he laughed… and then awkward me passed him his gift bag with the snacks and bottled lemonade I had bought for him. I think he was surprised that I had prepared another gift for him, and said thank you. Again, I had once again stalled the line by taking too long so the unnie had to move me to the next person.
I met Aoora next, whose personality is extremely charming. He asked me in Korean, “what is your name?” and then after giving him a puzzled look (which I should’ve known but was too shocked, I guess), he asked again in English “your name?” and then I finally said, “Christina.” Aoora actually speaks pretty good English.. he asked me where I was from, and when I said Canada, he pointed to Juwon. I told him I really loved AA and wished them a lot of success in the future. AGAIN, FAN CLUB UNNIE COMES AND PULLS ME ALONG.
Finally, I met Woosang who has a very bubbly personality despite his mature look. Instead of shaking hands, he gave me two high fives. He asked for my name and then I told him “Double A, 대박” (Double A is awesome!), in which he responded by saying, “Christina 대박!” and then gave me another high five.
SOOOOO that basically wraps up my experience MEETING Double A!!! They were all so nice in person, such cute boys!!! I love them even more now and will be going every week to support them as they continue their promotions! From the letters and gifts that I have given to Kimchi, I really hope he’ll remember who 캐나다 누나 팬 is… >.<”
Anyways, here are some photos. Many of them are blurry coz my hands were shaking from the cold. It was really hard to keep the camera still ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
